Opulent Origins: Craftsmanship, Sustainability, and Style

Discover the Magic of Craftsmanship and Sustainability while celebrating Belgian Fashion!

After the great success of the first Opulent Origins pop-up in the vibrant Dansaert district, it’s clear: this journey continues! What started as a personal challenge for An Vandenberk and her label This Is No Disco, has blossomed into a powerful collaboration of seven talented women who share a passion for craftsmanship, sustainability, and timeless creations.

With three upcoming editions, Opulent Origins promises to be an inspiring place where Belgian fashion, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurship come together. And you’re warmly invited to join us!

A Collective of Kindred Spirits

At the heart of Opulent Origins is This Is No Disco, the unisex label by An Vandenberk, along with her unique handmade leather handbags and accessories. An’s original and continuing vision is to offer every visitor a complete silhouette, tailored to their individual style. Her bamboo collection and handbags are naturally complemented by, and worn alongside, the creations of the other talented makers. The strength of this concept lies in the belief that it’s not the outfit that defines the wearer, but rather the wearer who brings the outfit to life.

In addition to An’s creations, you will also find:
Valérie Berckmans, a pioneer in sustainable fashion.
Benaazir Mukherjee, who designs unique silver jewellery with rare gemstones.
Monique Verreydt of MoVe Scarves, who creates silk scarves, each a true work of art.
Katlijn Vernimmen of Reversa, who breathes new life into forgotten interior objects.
Alice Bruno of Magic in a Box, who crafts stunning jewellery from glass and sea glass.
Véronique Blogie of Parad’Elle Creations is a master of micro-macramé jewellery, intricately incorporating semi-precious stones.

This collective collaboration allows you to build an outfit that is not only stylish and sustainable but also personal and meaningful. It’s a chance to put together a look that reflects your unique taste and lifestyle.

Recognised Craftsmanship and Customisation

Three of these women – An Vandenberk, Benaazir Mukherjee, and Monique Verreydt – are recognised artisans. Their work is a tribute to traditional techniques, combined with a modern view of sustainability.

An Vandenberk and Katlijn Vernimmen of Reversa are also members of the COSH.eco platform, which promotes more sustainable fashion and a circular economy. Together, they show that sustainability and craftsmanship can go hand in hand.
